Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Yes, he can survive though will require appropriate therapy and in a timely fashion. This usually involves intravenous fluids, antibiotics, supportive care medications for like diarrhea and vomiting if present, among other possible therapies. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your closest emergency clinic as soon as possible as the main concern with these patients is severe dehydration and anemia if there is blood involved. Good luck! I really hope he gets better.

Poor Bruno. Parvovirus can be a fatal infection but with early, intensive treatment such as this is an older puppy there is a chance of recovery, this could take 5-7days of intravenous fluids and many weeks to regain lost weight if he does survive.

Hi, Sorry to hear Tumi is sick. yes, it could be parvovirus. He will need veterinary attention if he has this virus. He will need fluids, anti nausea medication and antibiotics to prevent sepsis. Given his young age, I'm guessing he's not fully vaccinated against parvo yet, so it is something he could have. he will also need nutrition given to him in the form of canned food syringed into his mouth, as well as an electrolyte solution given by mouth until he can get IV or subcutaneous fluids by a vet. Yes, puppies die from this but there is a good success rate when treated early with the medication I previously mentioned. I would take him to a vet as soon as possible. Good luck, I hope this helps!
