How to stop my pitbull from pulling and yelling at dogs on walks?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 65 lbs

I have a 4 almost 5 year old pitbull, she is extremely caring and caring towards any person even my 2 year old nephew, but she does not like other dogs. She got along great with male dogs and one female pitbull that was living with us but she attacked my friends yorkie. She has never once shown aggression since. But when we walk even from when I first got her she gets very excited and pulls hard on walks to go see the other dog and does a scream/yelling sound when she sees them. What can I do?

This can be a very frustrating situation. Typically Lady is feeling threatened and possessive leading to aggression. I would highly recommend hiring a behavioral trainer to come into your house and help work through Lady's behavior. You can try adaptil a pheromone to help reduce stress and even increased exercise can help with anxiety but a trainer is the best option.
