My 8-year-old cat is biting randomly. Is this normal or pain?

my cat sophie is 8 years old and has just recently started biting/attacking randomly, is this normal or is there anything i need to worry about?

I would be concerned such a dramatic change in character could be due to pain and discomfort such as from spinal, dental or arthritis pain. A full physical exam is recommended as soon as possible. Try to monitor and see if any particular actions are triggering the behavior as this may narrow down the possibilities

    Sudden Changes in behaviour can often be related to pain. i would advise checking Cow over for any wounds or monitor him for changes in his walking. You might also want to check if he has a fever; https://www.petcoach.co/article/6-common-signs-your-pet-has-a-fever If he is eating and drinking normally and seems fine in himself continue to monitor for a few days.
