This is probably an upper respiratory infection, there are no remedies for that it usually resolves within 2 weeks without treatment, in some cases if it gets severe an antibiotic course would be needed.

The only quite effective remedy that you can try back home is to prepare hot water in the tub and let your dog breathe the steam (without letting your dog into the water). Hi. It sounds like Mayor has an upper respiratory infection. These can be caused by viruses, bacterial, or fungal infections. There isn't anything unfortunately from home that would cure it or treat it. That would have to come from your veterinarian. This evening you can close a small bathroom door, turn on shower as hot as possible, get the room very steamy/humid, and place him in that bathroom with the steam for 10 min 2-3 times a day. This isn't treating the infection, but helps break up mucous to make him more comfortable. Good luck.

Poor Gunner! If his nose is stuffed up and he isn't feeling well, there are a few things you can try to make him feel better. First, you can try bringing him into the bathroom with you with the door closed while you take a hot shower - the steam and moisture often help to relieve nasal congestion. If he isn't eating and drinking well, you can also offer some low-sodium chicken or beef broth to encourage him to stay hydrated. A mild respiratory infection should resolve on its own within 7-14 days. If the problem goes on longer than this, or if he stops eating completely or becomes very lethargic, then there may not be any option except to take him to the vet since he may need prescription medication and supportive care such as IV fluids to help fight the infection.

My 115 lb 5 ur old boxer seems to have a cold. He has runny eyes, a runny nose n phlem n his throat, n just a little cough. This started bout 3 days ago. He just wants to sleep but is still eating n drinking water. How can I make him feel better?

Poor guy. Upper respiratory infections in dogs are usually caused by a bacterial infection. Other possible causes are a fungal infection, or allergies. It's best to take him to the vet to get examined and medications to treat this. If he does have an upper respiratory infection then he will be prescribed oral antibiotics to take care of it. My boxer has had a very runny nose and sneezing his head off the past 2 days. He's still eating (not as much as normal) and drinking and playing. Just wondering how concerned I should be with him sneezing so much.

It's probably an upper respiratory infection, those infections are usually viral and do not require any treatment, symptoms should not last more than 2 weeks. if other symptoms occur or if she becomes lethargic, take Judge to the vet to get him checked.

If the discharge is clear then give it a few days to see if it resolves on its own, because it is possible this is just allergic rhinitis. If the clear draingae is severe, then you can also call your vet to see if they can recommend antihistamines for Panda to try. However if the discharge is any other color, then it's best to take Panda in to your vet for treatment because an infection is likely present, requiring the use of antibiotics to clear things up. This sounds like she has a mild cold or upper respiratory infection. Generally these are viral colds and will run their course over a week or so. Just like with us no antibiotics are needed unless she develops a secondary bacterial infection. If the discharge becomes green and her condition worsens then please bring her right in for treatment. Dogs don't really get colds. Even when they do have respiratory infections, such as Kennel Cough, we don't really appreciate a lot of nasal discharge. I would want to be sure that your dog has been vaccinated against the distemper virus, since this is a very serious respiratory condition that causes excessive mucous from the nose and eyes, and usually leads to death if not treated. If your dog is acting fine otherwise you can try to clean the mucous and keep the nasal openings clear, use a humidifier to soothe his nasal passages, and feed canned food to soothe his throat. However, if he continues to worsen unfortunately I think you are going to have to figure out how to see a vet about this.
