My cat has TF. Is it fatal? What treatment and special diet is best?

This means that any animal can be infected and shedding the infective stage, but doesn't necessarily have the disease. It sounds like Sasha has tapeworms. She will need a medication call Drontal to kill them, which you get from the vet. Tapeworms are transmitted by fleas, so you will need to treat her for fleas as well. Fleas live in the environment, not on the cat, so she could have fleas even if you don't see any. They jump on to feed, and then jump off. I can give you a flea treatment for her. First, I would give her Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas within 30 minutes. Then follow up with a spot on treatment, such as Advantage or Revolution. This is a treatment that has to be used once a month. You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash her bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. I hope this helps!

I'm so sorry but it is impossible for us to diagnose over the internet. My best guess though is that panleukopenia is definitely a possibility in this cat. Especially since it had contact with the infected cat. Hopefully, this cat will respond to treatment. I suggest you continue all the treatment your vet gave you and add in a probiotic if you can get one. I'm not sure what is available in Turkey but one made for cats would be best. I'm so sorry to hear about Theo's battle with FIP. That is, by far, one of the most heartbreaking diseases to diagnose in this field. Most cats are exposed to the coronavirus that causes it, but only an unlucky few convert the virus to FIP. As far as we know, this is based on a genetic predisposition and has nothing to do with exposure from the environment or other cats. If Meika is having loose stool, I would recommend having her seen by a vet. It is much more likely to be due to a common problem, such as a minor parasitic infection or stress colitis from grieving her playmate. They will likely recommend a bland diet, probiotics, or a short course of anti-diarrheal antibiotics if her only symptom is mild loose stool. Unfortunately, gastrointestinal lymphoma can be a longterm consequence of inflammatory bowel disease in cats. I am glad that will consult with an oncologist. There are actually a variety of treatment protocols, some of which can be oral tablets given at home. Cats tend to tolerate chemotherapy really well. They do not usually lose hair like human cancer patients will. There can be some nausea, but this is generally mild and there are good medications to control it. The main side effects tend to be white blood cell suppression. For this reason, her blood work will be monitored carefully. I hope this information helps!

Hello sorry to hear about Trixie. If her small cell lymphoma is in her intestines, it’s likely that her IBD has become the lymphoma. There’s a few studies describing this process. However, given that she is being treated with pred, this will often also suppress any flare ups of IBD. Often as pets begin to respond to treatment they may regain their normal appetite, and occasionally we can make use of appetite stimulants to achieve this sooner. Given that she has been on a novel protein diet, it is likely best to continue this same food, but if she is not eating anything other than fancy feast this may also be acceptable for now. I would recommend speaking with your veterinarian about Trixies diet to determine if you need to worry about feeding her something other than fancy feast or if she needs appetite stimulants to go back to eating her regular diet. Feeding a fish based commercial diet that is nutritionally complete is just fine as long as Cinderella is not allergic to the fish in the food you are giving. Cats that are fed raw fish frequently is more of the concern as they can develop serious nutritional deficits and vitamin deficiencies such as Thiamine deficiency which can be deadly. It is for this reason feeding raw fish primarily to cats is not recommended. However, feeding a small amount of tuna from a can occasionally as a treat is okay and will not cause a vitamin deficiency as long as they are also eating a commercially prepared food. No need to change the food Cinderella is enjoying now. From what you described, it sounds like she has tried a few foods that may have been giving her runny stools so if she is doing well on this particular food from Taste of the Wild, then I would keep her on that.
