How to stop a teething kitten from biting fingers without trauma?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Wirehair | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 15 days old | 6 lbs

Okay my kitten is teething and loves my fingers. She was relentlessly getting me good the other day so I locked her in kennel RIGHT after she bit n i said NO. She FREAKED in the cage, squeezed out once, but just FREAKS till she calms down then she just cries. When I take her out she lets me hold her on my chest close for a while kind of..thrn starts the hand-attacking all over. I feel like I traumatized her with the cage or was that Good way to handle biting? (I know she's teething too)

I think the cage was a good try, but instead of the cage anytime she gets too “wound up” I would put her in a quiet dark room to calm down. There is no use scolding. You can try if ignoring and walking away first, but if she continues then put her in a quiet dark room for a while. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
