My dog has skin bumps and isn't eating. What could be wrong?

Noticed these bumps on chest and belly tonight. Has had poor appetite for last week. What di you think is the csuse?

Hi. This appears to be a skin infection. THese can be caused by bacteria, yeast, fleas, ticks, mites, food sensitivities, allergies, and more. I would recommned and exam and some skin testig with some antibiotics from your veterinarian. Good luck

Poor guy! He really needs to be examined by a vet for a work-up and treatment. He could have a skin infection or an auto-immune disease causing his problems. Your vet can do a culture or skin biopsy to help diagnose and then prescribe medications to help treat his problem. He might need an antibiotic, corticosteroid, or other medications depending on the cause. Hope he feels better soon!

This is probably due to an allergy, although it could also be infection or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat with a high quality flea treatment (advocate or advantage), then ask the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try to discover the cause of the allergy. Three main type of allergies are usually affecting pets: food allergies, flea and parasite related ones and environmental type (allergens coming from trees, pollens, dust etc etc). Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair any possible skin lesions (like steroids and antibiotics). If he is lethargic and having diarrhea in addition to the pustules on the skin, I would recommend taking him in to be seen by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Without seeing him, it is difficult to say definitively what may be happening. After fleas, consider mites or I faction (bacterial or fungal). Allergies or food sensitivities are also possibly. Keep the area clean and dry. Use an e-collar (cone) to prevent licking or chewing. If the bumps spread or the hair loss worsens, consider and exam with your veterinarian. Antibiotics or anti-histamines may be indicated. Discuss allergy testing, hydrolyzed diets and food elimination trials with your veterinarian.

My dog recently started losing hair on his stomach area and now he looks very patchy. And I also noticed within the last two or three days a ton of bumps have started showing up in the same area. Some of the bumps look like whiteheads and the rest
It looks like he has a bacterial skin infection which could be secondary to allergies. You could bathe him with a medicated dog shampoo, like Epi-Soothe, and see if that helps but he probably needs an antibiotic, anti-histamine, and a corticosteroid to help treat the condition so he should be examined by your vet for treatment.

This appears suspicious for some type of deep skin infection (bacterial, yeast, or a mite). The only way to know for sure is to have your local veterinarian do an evaluation and take a skin sample. Depending on the results, your vet can prescribe an appropriate treatment. Sometimes a biopsy is needed if the cause is not apparent on basic skin testing or if standard treatments are not effective.

Hello. This looks pretty typical for an allergic dermatitis that has lead to a skin infection. Ideally, this should be addressed by your veterinarian. They can discuss possible causes (food allergy, contact allergy, flea allergy, etc) and prescribe medications which may include antibiotics for the raised lesions and allergy therapies.

It looks like your dog has a pyoderma (bacterial skin infection). He should be examined and treated by your vet as he needs an oral antibiotic to help resolve the infection. He might also need a corticosteroid and/or other medications to treat. If he has a history of allergies, ask your vet about Apoquel or Cytopoint to help control his allergies. Most skin infections are secondary to allergies.
