What are these unusual fiber-like growths in my cockapoo's ears?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cockapoo | Female | spayed | 5 years and 3 months old | 20 lbs

Could you tell me what this is? My dog has It in each ear. She is a cockapoo so always seems to struggle with itchy ears but these are unusual. Looks like a bunch of thick fibers but do not really pull out. Thank you!!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! What I noticed on those pictures is two small growths (1 in each ear). These could be benign or malignant growths. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Good luck and have a good day!
