My cat is distressed after rehoming her aggressive friend. Help!

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | 6 years and 7 months old | 9 lbs

I recently had to rehome my younger cat because she was trying to kill my older cat. Now my older cat is going all over the place scream meowing and looking for her. What can I do??

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! That is a difficult situation. Now if they truly did not get along well and the other kitty was trying to harm your older kitty, it is probably best to keep them separate. It is not uncommon for them to miss each other for a bit though this will improve very soon. I think you have made the right choice. Good luck!
