My cat with kidney issues got too much Meloxicam. Vet needed?

Holden my male cat 8lbs 16yrs old has kidney stones pain urinating hip pains arthritis. I may have given him too big a piece of meloxicam it was 15mg in pill form not liquid I broke a little less than 1/2 (6-7mg) in a pill pooper I feel like that's too much (I thought they were 7mg meloxicam where 1/2 would be ok) I am so worried about my mistake. need to know if vet is imperative or not depending

Unfortunately this is a very large dose for his size. Also, if he has kidney problems he could be even more sensitive than normal cats. I would have your vet or your local emergency take a look at him. They may want to check his bloodwork to ensure his kidney values look okay and also make sure he is able to pass irons. If he is blocked and cannot urinate then This can also cause more issues with his kidneys. I hope this helps and he starts to feel better soon.
