Pet's info: Dog | Rottweiler | Female | spayed | 75 lbs
Hello, I have a 5yr old spayed rottie, a couple months ago I went to the vet and she noticed a black spot in Tia's , she is concerned it could be cancer. I wanted to wait to see if it would change and it has gotten slightly bigger. I attached 3 pics. First is what the vet saw, then a month ago and one taken today. For money reasons I can't go to a eye doc for dogs, but can get her eye out if necessary. I just hate the thought of taking her eye out and find out it wasn't necessary. Please advise

My last visit to my dog's ophthalmologist was quite a bit less than surgery would be to remove his eye, so before making any rash decisions, I would find out the cost of seeing the ophthalmologist. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to determine if a mass in the anterior chamber is an iris cyst (which is benign) or a melanoma, but one trick is that an iris cyst may move in the eye. So if Tia is on her back, does the mass move? If so, be sure to give your doctor that information. I wish I had a simple answer for you, but I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
