My guinea pig suddenly isn't playful. What could be wrong with her?

Hi. We recently, about 2 months ago, adopted Oreo the Guinea Pig. We are enjoying her tremendously. But all of a sudden she seems not playful, not exactly tired, but she doesnt want to play or socialize. We'll coax her into coming out and bring her to play in her playpen where she has many toys, but she will just sit there. Not sure what to do or what could be wrong. My daughter is so very sad because she feels as if Oreo doesn't like her anymore. - Patty

Sudden behavioral changes are frequently caused by illness or injury. An exam with your veterinarian would be ideal. In the meantime, check her teeth for overgrowth or malocclusion, make sure she is eating and defecating normally and provide clean bedding and regular vitamin C supplementation.
