Why is my dog's muzzle scab bleeding? Crate rub or skin condition?

Last week River had a tiny scab on her muzzle. Each it has gotten progressively worse until now its the size of a pea. She sleeps in a crate at night and i always notice the change as she is released in the morning. Today there were what appears to be small scratches and there was a bit of blood. It does not seem to bother her in any way, and i have not seen her do anything to cause it. I'm wondering if it a skin condition that needs treatment or if she is rubbing her face against the crate. Pet's info: Dog | Dutch Shepherd | Female | spayed | 2 years and 5 months old | 60 lbs

Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach to address your concern. Judging from the photos, it is possible that this is due to trauma or infection. I would recommend using a topical medication called Zymox topical ointment and apply to the affected areas twice daily until resolved. If they worsen or do not resolve, then I would recommend having your veterinarian take a look at the affected areas for further testing and treatment recommendations. I hope this helps!
