My dog on Prednisone has skin bumps. What should I do at home?

My dog is on Prednisone for IVDD. He is paralyzed in his rear legs. He now has bumps all over is poor body. Is there something I can give him at home?

It sounds like he is having a possible allergic reaction to the prednisone. Unfortunately there isn’t much you can do for this at home. However this likely isn’t life threatening. Contact your vet tomorrow about this skin allergic reaction and the vet should be able to get him some medication to stop the reaction and perhaps switch him to another type of therapy. Your vet could switch him to an NSAID but a washout period of at least 2-4 days is needed and he will need to be on GI protectant (Misoprostol) for a period of time to help prevent GI ulcers. I am so sorry your pet is paralyzed and I hope that Oliver can regain some function of his legs soon. A referral to a neurologist may be best for him moving forward. Best wishes and take care.
