My senior cockatiel is plucking wing feathers with skin issues. Vet?

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male | 16 years and 11 months old

Hi, I have a 16 year old male cockatiel. His obviously bothered buy an area connecting Wing to body. He has plucked all the feathers from that area. There's small white plaques on his skin and in the crease he has a larger yellow thickened area. It looks like there's a slight tear in it. I thought he might have a skin infection. Do I need a vet?

Yes, Rockie should be examined by your veterinarian or an experienced avian vet to confirm infection or injury. Antibiotics may be indicated in treatment. An e-collar (cone) may be used to prevent further plucking. Review his diet with your veterinarian to rule out any deficiencies.
