My dog has a runny nose. What can I do at home before the vet?

my dogs left nostril is secreting mucus i just noticed it, what should i do other than take her to a vet? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 20 lbs

If you are waiting until your regular vet opens, you can try putting her in the bathroom with a hot shower on to use the steam in the room to help break up the mucus. I would keep her in there for about 15-20 minutes 3-4 times today. It sounds like Peanut may have an upper respiratory infection. Another possibility is an infected tooth. I recommend taking her to your vet tomorrow for an exam and antibiotics. Good luck and kisses to Peanut!
