Why is my rescued kitten scared of going outside? Is it normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Bombay | Female | spayed | 4 months and 27 days old | 11.3 lbs

So I found my kitten outside, I was wondering does that have anything to do with the fact she is terrified to go outside? Or is it normal for cats not to want to go outside she is almost 5 months old.

Hi there and thanks for posting on Pet Coach. It is hard to know what Luna’s experiences were before adopting you, but I expect by her behavior that she may have had some bad experiences outdoors and does not want to repeat those! Cats can be perfectly happy indoors and it is certainly safer than the dangers that present themselves outdoors. Have fun with her- she sure is cute! Thank you for using Pet Coach!
