Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | neutered | 16 years and 11 months old | 17 lbs

I have a shi tzu...Bentley. Hes 6 but i rescued him ( had him 6 months and i am VERY. Attached) he has a flat face and snores when laying on his back sleeping, but last night he sneezed and it scared him out his sleep. Ever since he has been periodically sneezing and his nise sounds stuffy. I gave him half an allergy tab .....it seems to have helped w ith the sneezing a tiny bit. What can i give him and what should i do?

Bentley is very cute! I would recommend taking him to a veterinarian for a good physical exam. I would be concerned with an older patient that maybe his teeth are causing inflammation in the nasal passage or even an upper respiratory infection. In older pets a vet visit is always best. I hope that helps
