My dog's toe is swollen and sore. Can I give him Tylenol or aspirin?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 10 years old | 40 lbs

Hi, It's Saturday evening and my dog is in pain. Just wondering if you could recommend any type of pain killer ei Tylenol, penedole etc. He's a 10 year old Bull Arab Cross. His toe is swollen and very sore. I would like to give him something to ease the pain until I can see a vet on Monday. He was recently diagnose with some sort of cancer in the toe and he is scheduled to have his toe removed next week. Any advice on ways to reduce the pain for the weekend would be greatly appreciated. TY

Poor Maka. I would not recommend to give any Tylenol, ibuprofen (Advil), or naproxen (Aleve) or human prescribe meds as most of these are toxic to dogs. You can give him 1/2 tablet of baby aspirin twice a day but I would not continue this long term because it can cause an upset tummy. As soon as you’re able to talk to your vet, I would talk to him about giving something that is more appropriate for dogs. Your vet should be able prescribe him something. I hope this helps!
