It could be ringworm, allergies, self inflicted wound, fleas, mites or bacterial infection, it's impossible to know for sure without checking it and testing it for a few things. if it doesn't get any better within a weeks time you should take him to the vet to get it checked.

    This could be a severe ringworm infection, or mite infection or metabolic/endocrine problem. You will need to schedule an appointment with your veterinarian for a thorough exam and some diagnostics to find the cause and then specifically treat it.
