Why did my kitten collapse, drool, and pee? Seizure or heart problem?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 months and 28 days old | 9 lbs

I was using a laser pen to play with my 9 month old kitten. She stopped chasing it and started drooling, peed herself then fell over really hard onto the ground. I ran over to her and she sprawled out some and them finally came to. She hissed at me at first then realized who I was. She was breathing really heavy after and I could tell she was scared. After a little while she spit up. I just wanted to know, did she have a seizure or pass out? And should I be worried?

She needs to be examned by a vet to determine the cause. It could have been a seizure but could also be caused by a heart problem, like cardiomyopathy. Your vet can do a workup to diagnose and then determine if treatment is needed.
