Why does my Yorkie have dry skin and scabs after a Dawn bath?

Yorkie has dry skin and scabs after son shampooed him with Dawn detergent. Condition has spread down his back from neck to tail.

It sounds like the Dawn detergent has dried out his skin. I would suggest putting some vitamin E on his skin to give it moisture, or you can give him a bath with vitamin E. You can also try an oatmeal bath to see if that helps. Given that Dawn could potentially dry out his skin, I would not use it again on him. If the dry skin doesn't clear up, I would take him into the vet for a health check.
