Why are my dog's ears still twitching after ear infection treatment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 7 months old | 34 lbs

My dogs had hives and we give her dipenhydramine after 2 days we noticed her ear flapping or twitching. Took her to the vet, had her ears cleaned for possible infection and they give her antibiotic. 3 days past she still involuntarily move both ears. What seems to be the problem

An ear infection does take longer than three days to clear up, so that could still be the cause of Nyang-nyang's ear twitching. In addition, ear infections can also be caused by yeast or ear mites, so the antibiotics may not be treating the ear infection if she has one (yeast and ear mites require different medications to treat). If she is still having trouble with the ear twitching in another 72 hours, then I would take her back into the vet for an exam.
