I went for a walk lastnight at dark for a change and Loki was super over protective and aggressive towards every passer by. He even tried to bite my friend I met up with. He's never like this during the day! And he has met this friend once before. We walked with my friend for a while and he eventually calmed down and got friendly with my friend.

It could be that walking in the dark made Loki a little nervous, and he was trying to be protective of you. If it's not a time he's used to walking at, it's a new environment and experience for him, and it may make him a little more weary. It's good that he eventually calmed down, and it sounds like he may have adjusted to the new situation. If he doesn't seem to like walking in the dark, I would take him out when it's light out instead.
