Why is my senior dog restless at night and losing his appetite?

My dog seems to be in pain he has trouble sleeping in one spot and has a slight loss in appetite he walks around fine wags his tail and chases the cats so is it just arthritis or what? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 14 years and 8 months old | 15 lbs

Donut likely is suffering from arthritis at his age. This is a very painful condition which can be made more bearable with anti-inflammatory medication prescribed by your veterinarian. He may also suffer from canine cognitive disorder, which often makes a dog wake up in the night and be afraid as he does not remember where he is...a type of senility. Leaving the light on or a a radio playing (unless he is deaf) sometimes helps. If he keeps waking up at night and/or appears in pain, have him examined by your vet .
