My cat keeps licking ointment from his inflamed rear. Is it safe?

is it ok for my cat to lick the ointment on his anus's inflammation?

I am unsure what ointment it is that your pet is licking, but generally speaking if this is an ointment that is labeled safe for pets, then to prevent Mostafa from getting an upset stomach licking this stuff, you should apply the ointment, then allow it to sit for 20 minutes unlicked, so that it can be absorbed into the skin. As long as you do this you should be fine. Another alternative is to place an e-collar on Mostafa at all times to prevent any licking of the product.
