What to do if my dog won't keep her period diaper on?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 8 months and 5 days old | 23.5 lbs

My dog won't cooperate with a diaper or underwear with a liner on her period and with it being winter I don't want to leave her outside all day. What can I do?

There are a couple of things you can do to keep the diaper on Panda. You can invest in diaper suspenders, which keeps the diaper in place. Distract her with a whistle, a noise-making device, or clapping when she attempts chew on the diaper or remove it. She will learn to associate an unpleasant noise with removing the diaper, and will stop doing it. When dogs are bored, they can chew on things or attempt to destruct items. I would keep Panda busy and occupied with chew toys, puzzle toys that she has to solve to get a treat, or a Kong toy that has been filled with peanut butter and frozen. These things should keep her distracted from her diaper.
