My dog is straining bloody snot after vet visit. What should I do?

Hi. I had my 6lb 4yr old Pommy-Poo to the vet yesterday afternoon. His temp was normal. Weight was spot on. They emptied his anal glands; which were only partially full and not infected. Since Dr.Rachel detected hard stool while emptying the glands, she ordered an enema & within minutes he was outside pooping. After I got him home, 1st he had diarrhea and is now just straining and pushing out this bloody snot-like substance. Every 2 hours. What should I do?!

You need to take Bilbo back to the vet. This is not normal and he may have colitis or possibly an injury to his rectum. Please take him back to your vet today. Since there is bleeding involved he will need antibiotics to keep intestinal bacteria from causing sepsis should they get into the circulatory system.
