Why is my senior cat wheezing, wobbly, not eating, and incontinent?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Ragdoll | Female | spayed | 12 years and 6 months old | 5 lbs

My 12 yr old cat has hyperthyroidism controlled with transdermal medication. Today she has suddenly started wheezing, runny nose, won't eat or drink , is walking wobbly and loss of bladder control. Do you think you this is a respiratory infection or could this be kidney failure?

This sounds more like a respiratory infection. Losing bladder control happens also when the cat all of a sudden cannot breathe for a second. Make sure you wipe the discharge off her nose and take her to a vet (pet ER) tonight. The wobbly walk is very concerning.
