Feral cat pregnant for months, no birth. Are kittens dead or sick?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

The farrow cat I've been feeding has been visually pregnant since October and has not given birth yet, I'm wondering if she has a belly full of dead kittens and what do I do?

If the kittens were dead, then she would be very ill by now. There may be many reasons for an extended abdomen in a feral cat. She could have worms and should be wormed, or, she could be suffering from feline infectious peritonitis. or have a large tumor in her abdomen., If you can touch her and maybe catch her, if would be a good idea to take her to a vet for an exam, worming and vaccination. Your vet can determine whether she is pregnant or what other problem may be causing this.
