Can I catch ringworm from my dog if he sleeps in my bed with me?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Thanks for the advice. I've just looked at it again and the round edge of it looks darker. We have been putting savlon on it with a cotton pad. Can we catch it if he's on our bed.?

You are welcome! Yes, if it is ringworm, it is contagious to humans. Savlon will not treat it, he will need an anti fungal medication. I would take him into the vet to get the antifungal medication prescribed. I would avoid touching that spot, and don't let him sleep in the bed. If he does have ringworm, you will need to disinfect the house because spores can live in the house for up to 18 months. This website has a lot of tips on how to disinfect the home: http://www.livestrong.com/article/49666-rid-home-ringworm/
