Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 4 months and 27 days old | 5 lbs
My 6-month-old kitten got spayed two days ago and refuses to eat any food or drink water. Why is this and what can I do?

This is highly abnormal, it could be due to pain or due to an infection. You need to take her back to your vet today in order to be checked, the vet will probably give you some more pain killers and possibly an antibiotics injection.

I recommend to call the veterinarian who preformed the surgery right away. They may want to examine her for any evidence of infection or dehydration. They may also recommend to come in and pick up medications. Pets can get infections or side effects from sedation and if they are not eating or drinking, they can get worse quickly. It's best to play it safe. I hope Princess Ella starts feeling better quickly.

Poor Stormy! I recommend to have her kidney values checked. Its rare but after surgery, sometimes evidence of kidney damage will become apparent. You veterinarian may also want to start anti-vomiting medication and an appetite stimulant. You must also make sure she remains hydrated and you may need to learn to give subcutaneous fluids at home. Make sure to have Stormy checked by the doctor as often as needed.
