My 7-month-old puppy attacks me on walks. How can I stop it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 7 months and 26 days old

My 7 month old puppy is in great health physically and gets plenty of excersise, but while I was taking her for a walk, and when we were almost home, she attacked me! She tore at my clothes and even when I turned my back, she jumped on me and was trying to bite my hand. It was very scary, because I didn't know whether I would let go of the leash or not. She usually is fine with her walks, but every once in awhile, she does this. It's not just me either, she does this with my mom too sometimes.

This is a very serious and potentially dangerous issue - I strongly recomend you consult a professional behaviorist for help in dealing with this before she injures somenone. In the meantime, purchase a muzzle and ensure whe is wearing it during walks or any other flashpoints to prevent her from bting and try to change your route or routine in order to avoid flashpoints
