My dog has itchy welts after being outside. Is Benadryl enough?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Bulldog | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 8 months old | 58 lbs

My dog has welt like allergic reaction just popped up on him with in 20 minutes after he came in from outside. He's a red-nose and gator pit bull hes 9 months old and weighs 55-60 lbs! He is a very happy hyper baby! He keeps scratching and nibbling his welps. He has no flees either! PLEASE let me know something ASAP. I have also givin him Benadryl is seems to look as the swelling has went down a tad bit.

The only thing you can do at home is to give Benadryl. If he is still having issues than he needs to be seen by a vet. Your vet can give an injection of prednisone to help treat the hives and make him feel better.
