Is it okay to wait until next summer to spay my female dog?

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 6 months old | 4 lbs

So as I much as I understood. It's all good to spay her summer next year?! Thank you Doctor Angel.

If you have to wait until next summer, that is fine. If you can do it earlier, then do so. The important thing is that she get spayed at some point. Until then, be sure to keep her away from male dogs if/when she comes into heat. You are very welcome. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

    A spayed female dog will make a good companion. If you get a young dog I would have her spayed at six months before her first heat. The young dogs heal much more quickly from the surgery and shouldn’t have complications.
