Is it okay to wait until next summer to spay my female dog?

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 6 months old | 4 lbs

If you have to wait until next summer, that is fine. If you can do it earlier, then do so. The important thing is that she get spayed at some point. A spayed female dog will make a good companion. If you get a young dog I would have her spayed at six months before her first heat. The young dogs heal much more quickly from the surgery and shouldn’t have complications.
