Seizures in an old dog are concerning. They may be real seizures (usually caused by a tumor in the brain, if he has never had seizures before) or they could be seizure-like episodes, called syncopes, ie fainting spells caused by a heart condition. I suggest you take Smokie to a vet for a general exam and some blood tests, and x-rays, if your vet suspects a heart condition. Seizures can usually be controlled with medication such as phenobarbital. If it is a heart condition, medications which help the heart to work better will stop those fainting spells and prolong your dog's life.
