Your dog may get diarrhea or vomiting or both. nail polish remover is acetone, which is is a ketone, which is toxic to dogs. If the cotton ball was exposed to air for a little while a lot of the acetone in the nail polish remover probably evaporated. If your dog appears ill or vomits more than once or gets profuse diarrhea, you should take him to a vet or pet ER for an exam.

Without knowing the amount or ingredients in either, it would be hard to say. You can contact your vet or Pet Poison Helpline (there is a fee for this service) if you have the ingredient information and amount ingested: https://www.petpoisonhelpline.com/ Signs to watch out for include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, drooling, confusion, convulsions, refusal to eat or drink, pain, or attempting to vomit or defecate without being able to. These are all signs of toxicity or foreign body issues which require treatment immediately. That said, the sooner you get in for care of a possible toxic ingestion, the better.
