Does a DAP collar shock dogs? How does it calm my anxious pet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 11 months and 4 days old

How does a DAP collar work? Does it shock them or something? Like how does it keep my dog calm? I'm going to purchase one soon but I want to assure that both my dogs can run around without him attacking my other dog. Also what kind of DAP collar should I get? Sorry if I'm confusing but please and thank you!

DAP stands for "dog appeasing pheromone". It is not a shock or spray color. It mimics a mother dog's pheromones to enhance calm, decrease anxiety and decrease aggression. There is a collar, spray and a diffuser that you can use. Follow the link for more information. http://dapdiffuser.com/

You aren't confusing at all! A DAP collar does not shock a dog; rather, it cause dissipation of calming pheromones into the environment. When the collar is in contact with the dog's skin, the dog's body temperature warms the collar, creating the diffusion of the pheromones into the local environment. Given that the DAP collar requires close contact to the dog's skin at all times in order to work, I would recommend getting a DAP pheromone diffuser for the home. That way, there will be the constant source of pheromones in the home even if the collar isn't in close contact with Sole's skin, and the collar can still be effective outside as long as it's against the skin. I like the Adaptil brands of plug in diffuser and collars.
