My dog ate garlic Cesar salad and is weak. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 3 years and 9 months old | 145 lbs

Nemoy got into a Cesar salad that was left out. Could have eaten up to 2 cups but we're unsure. There was a lot of dressing and it's very garlicy. He seems very weak 3 1/2 hours later. Whining like he's in pain, seems like he's not feeling well, won't stand, and he's not even interested in water. Is this something that should pass?

No, this is not something that will pass. Garlic is toxic to dogs, and lethargy and weakness are signs of toxicity which Nemoy is showing. This is a medical emergency, and he needs to see a vet immediately. Please take him into an ER vet now.
