My cat is foaming at mouth, smacking, acting anxious. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 9 lbs

my 3 year old siamese (who has had chlamydia since i got him at a couple months old) just started foaming at mouth and smacking his mouth open and closed like there was something stuck in his teeth or he tasted something bad whilst running around house somewhat panicking a bit.it stopped after 15 minutes and seems OK now.he was a slighty extra energetic and anxious than usual today.what might be wrong?

If it just happened once and is not happening again, that might be just something he ate that had a bad taste for him. If it happens again, it is more likely to be a chronic gum disease, this will need to be checked and treated by your vet.
