My puppy just came home from Parvo. Is it normal for her to be tired?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 2 days old | 10 lbs

Hi, my puppy Lelah was diagnosed with Parvo, she was hospitalized on dec, 1st and got to come home today. When she got home she was her normal playful self for the first few hours, and now she just wants to lay around and sleep, is this normal?

Yes, this sounds like it's probably normal. Parvo is a serious disease, and it will take time for her to get her energy back and be fully recovered. As long as she is eating and drinking, and has not been vomiting, I would just give her some time. She should be back to her old self within the next few days :)

I'm sorry Lelah had parvo, but it's good she is home. Yes, this is normal that she will be tired. She is recovering from an extremely serious illness, and it will take time for her to get back to her normal self. As long as she isn't vomiting and has been eating thorough the day, I would let her rest and recover. She will slowly start improving hopefully. If she does start vomiting again or refusing food all day tomorrow, then then I would be concerned and take her back into the vet.
