Why is my cat losing fur near his nose after eye removal surgery?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Bombay | Male | neutered | 8 months and 12 days old | 8 lbs

Hello! My kitty had his eye removed back in august because it was very small and not working. The surgery was a success, but months later im noticing some mild fur loss arround the eyelid in the corner closest to the nose? Not really visible when he sqeezes his eyes shut. The surgery eye remains sealed, theres no drainage, and he doesnt seem irritated by it, should i be worred? Is this some kind of leftover scarring? Thank u!

Touch the surgical site gently with the back of your hand. If it is hot and/or swollen, you need to see your vet. If it is normal skin temperature, if it is not swollen and if there is no discharge, I don't think there is anything to worry about.
