Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 4 days old

Mac woke up this morning gagging. I did not see him vomit. I took him out his poop was normal and formed. He is acting lethargic and sleepy.

Poor Mac! It's good that his poop is normal. Lethargy is a general symptom of many illness, such as systemic disease, GI disease, infection, inflammation or injury. I would keep an eye on him for now. If he continues to act lethargic over the weekend, or he starts vomiting, having diarrhea, and stops eating or drinking, then I would take him into a vet.

It sounds as Macu is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.
