My dog scratched her eye and has a scab. Is Polysporin safe to use?

My dog scratches around her eye and a scab has formed. Is it safe to apply a topical like Polysporin?

No, I would not use this on Mila. This could get into her eyes, which would not be safe. In addition, she may just rub it off with her paw and then ingest it, which is also not safe. It's important to treat the reason behind why she is scratching around her eye, which could be due to allergies, a foreign body, or an eye infection. If the cause if the scratching isn't treated, she will keep doing it and make the scab worse. In addition, by scratching around her eye, she may have accidentally scratched her cornea, and her eye should be examined for damage. I would take her into a vet now. The vet can determine what is causing her to scratch her eye, and can treat it.
