Is my 3-month kitten a ringworm carrier if my kids have it? Treatment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 1lb

what treatment is best for a 3 month old kitten that I believe is a carrier of ringworm or has an asymptomatic ringworm infection as I see no skin lesions or loss of hair but my 2 children are covered in ringworm in all the areas where the cat has touched their skin while holding it.

The treatment is with an oral antifungal, it's not recommended if your kitten is asymptomatic as this medication can have severe side effects. The medication is prescription only and can be given only by your vet, in this specific case I do not believe any vet would recommend this treatment though.
