Cat's ear cut not healing, and third eyelid is out. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 11 years and 6 months old

My cat has a cut in his left ear that is healing slowly. Hes had it for almost one and a half weeks. On top of that he seems to have lost control of his left eyelid 2 days ago. Are these connected and how concerned should I be?

It is not normal for the third eyelid in a cat to be out when the cat's eye is open, so if Rexx's third eyelid is out, then this is a concerning sign. It's typically only out in times of illness. I would take Rexx into the vet today for an exam. If he has a slowly healing cut, he may have an infection causing it to heal slowly, and that could lead to third eyelid staying out.
