Do pigs hooves need to be trimmed? If so how often? How do you tell when they need trimmed?

They do need regular trimming. It depends on the rate of growth and how long the hooves get. A pig may become lame or lethargic when the hooves need trimming. A long hoof causes the pig to bear weight awkwardly. If you are unsure if your pig needs trimming, contact your vet or a local farrier for an exam. Trimming can be done afterwards if indicated.
