Do pigs hooves need to be trimmed? If so how often? How do you tell when they need trimmed? Pet's info: Other | Unknown - Other | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 5 days old | 100 lbs

They do need regular trimming. It depends on the rate of growth and how long the hooves get. A pig may become lame or lethargic when the hooves need trimming. A long hoof causes the pig to bear weight awkwardly. If you are unsure if your pig needs trimming, contact your vet or a local farrier for an exam. Trimming can be done afterwards if indicated.
