My pug swallowed a small pine cone from a Christmas decor. Is it safe?

My pug dog has swallowed a small 1cm pine cone. It was off a christmas decoration. What should I do?

Oh that was naughty of Mr. Pugglesworth (I love his name!). I would not recommend including vomiting, as it will likely cause damage to the esophagus on the way out. It is quite small, so hopefully it will pass through the GI tract without issue. I would give him a piece of whole wheat bread now, which will hopefully form a ball of ingesta around the bread, cushioning it out on the way through the GI tract. Give him this slice of bread with every meal. I would monitor his poop for signs of it, and if it hasn't passed in 72 hours, then I would take him into the vet. I don't think it will cause an obstruction, but I would monitor for signs of it just in case. These signs including vomiting, anorexia, lethargy, diarrhea, and constipation. If you see any of those signs, I would take him into the vet.
