Found a dehydrated green anole. How to tell if it's alive and save it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hi, I have found a dehydrated green anole in my apartment. I believe he is dehydrated because his eyes are sunken, and I have found a dead, dessicated anole before. He is unresponsive. I am wondering a) how do I tell if he's alive and b) what can I do to save him?

You can watch his sides for respirations. Soak him in a warm 50/50 solution of water and unflavored PediaLyte. He should respond and become more active as he warms up and rehydrates. If he survives, have him examined by an experienced herp vet. Follow this link for more information regarding care: http://www.anapsid.org/anole.html
