Why did my dog die suddenly after her first chemotherapy treatment?

My schnauzer girl died few hours after her first chemotherapy. I was told the success rate for chemo is 85% and could stop anytime if it's not working on her well but I have never been told that could be fatal now I'm very much regretted. What could possibly caused her death? Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Schnauzer | Female | spayed | 8 years old | 12 lbs

I'm so sorry to hear that! It's possible that she may have had a severe allergic reaction to the medication - it's very rare for a dog to die so suddenly after a dose of any chemotherapy drug, so it's hard to say if there was anything else that may have caused it. I would recommend talking with the veterinarian who was treating her about your concerns, as he/she would be in a better position to say what may have happened.
